Who We Are
|
We are the American
Organization for Bodywork Therapies of Asia - Chesapeake Chapter.
Our chapter members include Asian Bodywork Therapists living
and practicing in Maryland, Virginia, Delaware and the District
of Columbia.
The American Organization for Bodywork Therapies of Asia™,
or AOBTA®, is a professional organization founded for the
following purposes:

A. To provide the primary forum
and organization for Practitioners and Instructors of Asian
Bodywork Therapy at the local, state, regional and national
levels to pursue legitimate purposes as set forth below.
B. To elevate and maintain standards of the practice of Asian Bodywork Therapy.
C. To elevate and maintain the standards of education and advance the art and
science of Asian Bodywork Therapy.
D. To educate and enhance the general public’s understanding and appreciation
of the nature and scope of the practice of Asian Bodywork Therapy.
E. To provide a forum for the sharing of knowledge in the fields of Asian Bodywork
Therapy and related disciplines, as well as foster a spirit of cooperation and
the exchange of ideas and techniques among its members.
F. To promote and assist in the establishment of legislation that supports and
upholds, and oppose legislation that harms and damages the Asian Bodywork Therapy
profession.
G. To assist in the establishment of just health laws and codes and to support
such laws and codes where established.
H. To protect and preserve the rights of its members.
I. To establish state and national certification and licensure.
J. To cooperate in the creation and maintenance of an independent National Bodywork
Therapy Certification Board.
K. To develop and establish continuing education programs for professionals including
cross-cultural exchange programs.
L. To promote, encourage and support research in Asian Bodywork Therapy.
M. To conduct any other activity in connection with the purposes stated in this
article and to undertake such desirable activities as the Board of Directors
may determine.
